Wildflower

A

I have a lovely neighbor who gifted me a certificate to a local Denver restaurant, Wildflower, for my birthday. My husband and I had a chance to finally try out this place that we’ve been meaning to go for a while. It sure didn’t disappoint!

Wildflower is located inside the Life House Hotel in the LoHi area. We had no problem finding street parking on a Friday night. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess immediately. The restaurant has two main sections. There was a bar and some smaller table seatings surrounding the bar. We were seated in the back where there were several more tables and booths. The entire restaurant is decorated with a Victorian theme. The lighting was dim and the decor felt lush and romantic. It’s definitely a good choice for a date night. But we also saw several tables with friends gathering.

Scallop Crudo

We decided to splurge a little and went for the smaller version of the ‘Bouquet of Wildflowers’ tasting menu. Not only were all the dishes excellent, it turned out to be more than enough food for the two of us. There were five courses for us to share and the beautifully presented dishes were varied. My favorite were the scallop crudo and the black truffle tart (literally covered with black truffle!). The restaurant was also very flexible in listening to our preference for types of food we like. My husband requested the Wagyu tri-tip as one of our dishes and it was our main course. The steak was cooked to medium rare, and it was tender and very flavorful.

After dinner, the restaurant also gave us a complementary dessert for being at the restaurant for the first time. It was the Wildflower honey semifreddo. It was also an excellent and beautiful dish. Despite us being stuffed, we polished off that dessert.

By the way, for any mead lovers out there, this restaurant has quite a few selections of mead. If it also featured in the scallop crudo dish in the photo above.

There is a 20% service charge and another 4% BOH charge automatically added to the bill. With the wonderful and friendly services, we felt that it was a fair surcharge. When we return to the restaurant, we will sure get the tasting menu again since we felt it was excellent value. All the dishes were still the full size version of what’s on the menu. We loved every bit of it! If anyone is looking for a romantic or friends night out with excellent food, this is the place to consider.
